Normal value is always 6mm with Starrsed Control (FAQ)

Question:

Measurements with Starrrsed Control Level N always result in 6mm.

Hint:

  • If 2mm is measured in the 30 minutes method it will always result in 6 mm at 60 minutes (before temperature correction). A value of “5” is in the 30 minute method, due to the calculation from 30 to 60 minutes, not possible.
  • Another cause of consistent 6 mm measurement (if measured in the 60 minute method) could be the rounding to whole mm: “5.5” and up will be reported as “6”

Additional information:

As far as known most customers do have an average around 5 (after temperature correction). Some customers do have also a biased result to 6 (this could be a result of the 30 minute method and a temperature <21°C).

It is at least precise and consistent to have always 6 mm measurement results in a very low SD and a very acceptable CV relative to this low value. This method is not a calibration but a control tool to prove that the measurement is consistent during a long period.
