Starrsed Control results are consistently too low

Problem:

Starrsed Control results are consistently much lower comparing to the given mean value or earlier results on the same instrument

Action:

  • Check if Starrsed Control is thoroughly mixed
  • Check the tubing, reagent connections and settings
  • Check the temperature in the instrument and the ESR measurement values WITHOUT temperature correction

Additional information:

Especially for Starrsed Control Level A. The temperature correction influences the QC result, especially at higher temperatures at location. If the 30-minute method is used, the calculation of the measured value to the ESR 60 this effect will even be higher.

If the measured values are always lower than the expected value but are precise and consistent and within the value range, this results in a low SD and a very acceptable CV. The results shows that the instrument is performing stable even if there is always a lower bias.

Note: This method is not a calibration but a control tool to prove that the measurement is consistent during a long period.
