What if Starrsed Control measurement is out of range (FAQ)

Question:

What if Starrsed Control measurement is out of range ?

Cause:

Possible causes:

  • Degradation of reagents
  • Degradation of control material
  • Operator error
  • Failure to follow external and internal instructions
  • Equipment failure

 

Possible solutions:

Perform a new QC measurement.

If QC result is still out of range
Check instrument and verify if correct procedure has been performed.

Do not use contaminated/expired reagents.

Do not re-use empty tubes

Do not mix contents of used tubes

Store Starrsed Control upright, unopened at 18-30 °C.

Always use the same measurement method (30 min or 60 min.) and (if possible) at the same time of the day

Properly mix Starrsed control before use (use roller mixer)

Load/draw Starrsed Control only immediately after mixing and at least 12 complete inversions

Inspect and check general functioning of instrument (valves, vacuum etc.)

Check leveling of the ESR unit

Inspect and if needed clean instrument (nozzles, tubes and pipettes)

Additional information

Results of patient sampling can not be released if QC results do not meet laboratory target values/regulations.
