PVP solution

The PVP solution is delivered in 5 ml vials or in storage bottles of 0.5 Ltr (Osmoscan).

In all cases:

  • Store the PVP solutions as indicated at the packaging. PVP has a shelf life of one year, stored at 4-30 °C.
  • Prior for use the PVP must be at room temperature. Do not heat!
  • The PVP solution becomes (after drying up) a very strong adhesive! It is highly recommended to clean the instrument by the automated rinse cycle and perform an end of day wash!
  • Blood samples in the sample PVP may be used at a maximum of one hour
  • Invert for use, do not shake.

In case of a new PVP batch do not forget to change the default viscosity value* in the PC software (LoRRCA Screen Icon Settings screen/General options). The batch information can be found on the Mechatronics website.

  1. Go to www.mechatronics.nl .
  2. Select "Support" at the top.
  3. Select "LoRRca MaxSis & LoRRca I/II" -> "Viscosity PVP".
  4. Click on the link "Viscosity PVP".
  5. Log in with user name: "lorrcauser" and password: "maxsis".
  6. On the page Type in your lot number and press Search
  7. Click on "Specifications" at the article number and Lot number which is mentioned on the label.
  8. Check or change (if needed) the default medium viscosity at 'Settings screen/General options".

* For Osmoscan measurements the mean of the viscosity of the HIGH and LOW has to be set as default medium viscosity.
For the other measurements the viscosity of the isotonic PVP (used for blood preparation) has to be set as default medium viscosity.

In case of storage bottles:

  • Close the storage bottles immediately after filling the instrument bottles.
  • Pour PVP directly from storage bottles in instrument bottles.
  • Check for turbidity and discard if turbidity develops.
  • Do not pour PVP from the instrument bottles back in storage bottles.
  • Outside the storage bottles PVP has a limited using time of one week stored at 4-7°C (in instrument bottles)
  • Use only the PVP instrument bottles as supplied with the LoRRca MaxSis.
