Preparing a blood sample

Use the supplied PVP solution (see Appendix - Parts list)

A blood sample can be stored at a maximum of one hour (at room temperature) After that the sample cannot be used anymore.

  1. Mix 5 ml ready to use PVP solution with 25 µl of normal EDTA-anticoagulated blood (shortly before the measurement).
  2. Gentle mix the blood by immediately inverting the tube 5-10 times (don’t shake) thoroughly until it colours homogeneous red.
  3. Click on Cell Stability Test on the Main screen. The Stability curve start screen appears:
    Colored diffraction pattern Measurement and sample details Curve display screen Indication of cell shape Measurement results Close program
  4. Press <New...(F1)>
